Health Lecture on Summer Wellness Successfully Held at San Kiang Charitable Association of New York

On the afternoon of June 21, 2026, the San Kiang Charitable Association of New York (SKCA) successfully hosted a community health seminar titled “How Seniors Can Stay Healthy by Aligning with Seasonal Changes.” The event featured Dr. Sherry Li (DACM, L.Ac.), a licensed Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, as the keynote speaker. The seminar attracted many members and community residents, creating a warm, engaging, and educational atmosphere.

Promoting Healthy Aging Through Seasonal Wellness

As summer brings higher temperatures and increased health risks, especially for older adults, the seminar focused on practical ways to maintain good health during the season through Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles.

Drawing on both classical TCM wisdom and years of clinical experience, Dr. Li explained how people can improve their health by living in harmony with seasonal changes. Her presentation covered a wide range of practical topics, including:

  • Why the heart requires special care during the summer season

  • How to better regulate blood pressure, sleep, and emotional well-being

  • Healthy eating habits and daily routines for seniors in hot weather

  • Common misconceptions about summer health practices

  • The role of acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine in long-term wellness and chronic disease management

Many attendees commented that the seminar helped them realize that some of their long-held health habits and beliefs were actually misconceptions. They left with a deeper understanding of preventive healthcare and practical knowledge they could immediately apply in their daily lives.

Free Health Consultations Following the Seminar

After the lecture, Dr. Li generously provided complimentary health consultations for attendees.

She patiently answered questions related to sleep disorders, hypertension, joint pain, neck and back discomfort, and other common health concerns. Based on each individual’s condition, she offered personalized wellness recommendations, allowing participants to receive professional guidance in a welcoming community setting.

The consultation session was highly appreciated and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees.

Serving the Community Through Health Education

For many years, the San Kiang Charitable Association of New York has remained committed to its mission of serving members, supporting the community, and preserving Chinese cultural traditions. In addition to cultural celebrations and educational programs, SKCA regularly organizes health seminars, legal information sessions, educational workshops, and community service activities to enhance the well-being of the Chinese community.

Good health is the foundation of a happy life and the greatest gift to every family. SKCA will continue to invite experts from various fields to present informative public seminars and community programs, providing valuable resources that empower our members and strengthen our community.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Sherry Li for her outstanding presentation and generous service, and to everyone who attended and helped make this event a great success.

Together, let us continue to promote healthy living, lifelong learning, and a stronger, healthier community.
