In today’s fast-paced world flooded with information, we often chase efficiency and focus on economic growth, yet overlook the most fundamental and vital thing: the safety and preservation of life.

Today, the San Kiang Charitable Association had the great honor of welcoming Captain Chen Suzhen from the Xiamen Blue Sky Rescue Team in China. She delivered a powerful and deeply meaningful lecture on “Emergency Self-Rescue and Mutual Aid.”

This was not just another class—it was a life-saving session, a heartfelt, cross-border sharing of life wisdom that warmed every listener in the room.
A Firsthand Account from the Front Lines of Life and Death
Captain Chen Suzhen has nearly 20 years of hands-on rescue experience, having worked on countless disaster relief missions. She has seen the devastation of earthquakes, the separation caused by floods, and has pulled countless lives back from the edge of death with her own hands.
While attending a United Nations conference in New York, she took time from her busy schedule to come to our Association and offer a lesson that could very well determine life or death. She said:
“If just one person learns these skills and saves a life one day, it’s all worth it.”
This—is the true meaning of boundless love.

The Most Practical and Impactful Lesson We’ve Ever Had
The two-hour lecture was incredibly informative, yet delivered in a way that was simple, engaging, and easy to understand. Everyone paid full attention, afraid to miss even a single detail. Captain Chen started with everyday dangers and gradually guided us into the world of practical emergency knowledge.

🛑 Earthquake Survival:
She explained how to assess your environment and choose the “triangle of life” position to avoid common and fatal mistakes during an earthquake.
🩹 Wound Treatment and Bandaging:
With just gauze and bandages, she showed how to stop bleeding and prevent infection—skills that could mean the difference between life and death.

❤️ CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation):

She patiently taught the steps of CPR, how to check responsiveness, administer compressions, and give rescue breaths.
👵👶 Heimlich Maneuver for Choking:
“Older adults fear two things the most: falling and choking,” she said. Children, too, often choke while playing or eating. She gave a full demonstration of the Heimlich maneuver, which deeply moved many of us. Some had tears in their eyes:
“If only we had known this earlier…”

“This Class Could Truly Save Lives”
This lecture, delivered by someone who has saved countless lives, was raw, real, and unforgettable. It was more than a lesson—it was a wake-up call, a gift.
Captain Chen reminded us:
“Knowledge should not stay locked in classrooms. It should be shared, spread, and practiced in our homes and communities. Anyone can be a hero.”
This was without question the most practical and emotionally powerful lecture the San Kiang Association has hosted in years. It taught us how to respond in an emergency—but more than that, it reminded us to respect life, to protect our families, and to care for one another.
